EFT Basics
"The cause of all negative emotions and all problems (emotional, physical, mental, spiritual, financial, stress, phobias, etc) is a disruption or imbalance in the body's energy system." Gary Craig, Founder of EFT
How EFT works
EFT is based on similar principles to acupuncture but uses no needles. It is absolutely pain free and leaves you feeling much better. During EFT / tapping session you will tap with your fingers on acupuncture points to erase unwanted feelings, thoughts or stress. Tapping is the easiest and most practical technique available now to help you with most problems. The key principle behind EFT is that most of your problmes (emotional, physical, mental, and even financial) are caused by imbalances and blocks in your energy system. The skill you’ll learn during the session can be used any time, anywhere - for life. We guarantee you’ll love it.
Who uses EFT
EFT has been popularised by Paul McKenna's regular use of this method on TV. Many hypnotherapists, NLP practitioners are now using EFT in favour of their standard treatment, as it can give immediate results. Thousands of people worldwide are using EFT and it has become the fastest growing self-help and personal development tool because it's so easy to learn and use. Many athletes are now using EFT for sports enhancement. EFT is popular among golfers because it gives them the competitive edge.

History of EFT
EFT was developed by Gary Craig, a US Stanford engineer who became interested in Roger Callahan's work (the originator of TFT - Thought Field Therapy) which is a system involving individualised sets of acupuncture points which you tap to resolve specific emotional problems. EFT has been greatly simplified by reducing the system down to a small number of acupuncture points which are tapped to neutralise all possible problems.
EFT Instructions
What is the intensity of the problem on a scale of 0-10 (0=no emotional response 10=maximum/very strong emotional response). If possible, intensify the negative feelings.
1. Rub the tender spot on the chest and say 3 times:
“Even though I ……………… (name the problem), I love and accept myself completely and deeply.”
2. Full round: tap each point 5-7 times as you state your problem with just a few key words
• beginning of eyebrow • side of the eye • under eye • under nose • between lip & chin • collarbone • under arm • hand: thumb, index finger, middle finger, little finger
• Gamut point: open & close eyes; hard down right, hard down left, round in a circle one way; round in a circle the other way, hum a tune, count 1-5, hum a tune • Karate chop
3. Scale the intensity of the problem 0-10 now.
Notice and acknowledge any difference and repeat the above EFT protocol again until the intensity of the problem drops to 1-0.
“Even though I still have some of this (problem) ……………… left, I love and accept myself completely and deeply.”
If a problem is not responding
1. you are making headway but additional aspects of the problem are coming to the fore (relax and think whether you need to identify another key phrase to represent the problem)
2. you haven't found the core issue/aspect yet (relax and think whether you need to identify another key phrase to represent the problem)
3. the problem is being addressed too globally (relax and think whether you need to identify a more precise phrase to represent the problem)
4. there are negative (energy) toxins in your system or the immediate environment (move outside if possible)
5. psychological reversal (desire not to change) is in place (change your key phrase to ‘even though I don’t seem to want to change this problem, I love ……’
Psychological Reversal involves unconscious resistance to the consciously desired outcome. A part of you seems to want the reverse of what you consciously desire, or you do the reverse of what you intend. And the harder you try, the more powerful the resistance that counters your efforts becomes. Your efforts produce the opposite of what you intend. Consult your EFT practitioner to find out more.
